When you think of roller skating with us at Skate Moore in Oklahoma City, you probably think about zipping around the rink, gliding fast around the curves and having endless hours of fun. You probably don’t give a lot of thought to blisters, though. However, developing blisters while you skate can happen and they can seriously ruin your day.
Fortunately, preventing painful blisters during your skating session is totally avoidable. You just have to follow a few simple tips and your day will be a fun-filled family adventure. Don’t get sidelined because of blisters on your feet. Instead, check out these helpful remedies to avoid blisters:
Size is Everything
One of the most common causes of skate blisters is having the wrong size skate. Skates that are too big allow a lot of movement between your feet and the skates. This can create rubbing and blisters will soon follow. Likewise, skates that are too small can trap your feet and even small shifts between your skates and your feet can create a painful blister to form.
Make sure your skates fit just right and lace them up well… not too loose and not too tight. At our pro shop, we can set you up with skates that are perfect for you.
Stop Blisters in their Tracks
If you feel a blister forming, there are ways to prevent them from getting worse and ruining your day at the roller rink. If you’re renting skates, talk to the pro shop attendant to see of your skates fit correctly. If not, trade them in for a size that’s better for your feet. Secondly, you can place a Band-Aid over the blister spot to add cushion and prevent further rubbing. Doubling up your socks can also work to add some extra cushion.
