Beginner’s Skate Gear Checklist
Starting a new hobby can seem a bit overwhelming. However, we have all of the information you need to get started with roller skating.
Here are the 7 things we recommend you have when you hit the rink:
- Roller Skates
This one is a bit obvious, right? It’s important to have a reliable pair of skates. You can buy yourself a pair or rent them from us at Skate Moore.
2. Elbow Pads
Elbow pads are an absolute necessity when learning how to skate to protect yourself in case of falls.
3. Knee Pads
Similar to elbow pads, knee pads will help keep your joints safe as you learn to skate in case of a fall on the rink.
4. Wrist Guards
While these aren’t as common as wearing elbow pads or knee pads, they are definitely helpful in protecting your wrists in case of a fall.
5. Helmet
Helmets are another absolute necessity when learning a hobby on wheels, skating included. You may feel silly wearing it, but it’s better to feel silly while keeping your head protected than suffer any consequences of a major injury especially if you’re skating outdoors.
6. Longer Socks
Protect your feet and ankles with longer, cushioned socks as you get used to the roller skate’s boots.
7. Patience
Learning a new hobby takes a lot of patience! It may come naturally, but it may take a bit more time. Keep on practicing, it will be worth it!
That covers the essentials! When you’re starting roller skating as a new hobby, it’s better to be safe than sorry and have all the gear you need to get started. It may be tough at first, but just keep practicing! You’ll be hitting the rink like a pro skater in no time. We can’t wait to have you on the rink with us at Skate Moore!
